Muskingum University Lights Up Campus, Officially Ringing in the Holiday Season

Muskingum officially kicked off the 2020 holiday season on campus during the University’s annual “Celebration of Light” on Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The virtual ceremony, aired on Orbit Media’s WMCO 90.7 radio, featured remarks from President Hasseler and Chaplain Julia Wright, and a poetry reading by Dr. Jane Varley, Professor of English and Chair of the Arts and Humanities Division.

Muskingum Presents Christmas Festival

Muskingum University presented its 2024 Christmas Festival on Friday, December 6, in Brown Chapel.

The festival featured The Light of Hope Returning, a Solstice “folk oratorio” by Shawn Kirchner. The oratorio was performed by Muskingum’s Concert Choir and Chamber Ensemble, and included inspirational readings.

Theatre Presents Immersive Experience

Muskingum University’s Fall 2024 drama production “Anna, Mitya, and Lady Cheesecake Sparkleskirt,” brought an immersive theatre experience to campus.

The production, based on Anton Chekhov’s “Lady with the Little Dog,” featured three performances from Oct. 24-27 in Brown Chapel.

Magenta Homecoming Highlights

Muskingum University alumni from across the decades and the nation returned to campus for the 102nd Homecoming Celebration on Oct. 18-20, 2024.

Muskie generations in attendance spanned 67 years, from Charlie Gratz of the Class of 1957 to multiple members of the Class of 2024.

Muskingum University Awarded USDOL Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities Initiative Grant

Muskingum University was awarded over $1.4 million for a Workforce Opportunity for a Rural Communities Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The WORC Initiative funds projects that promote economic mobility, address historic inequities for marginalized individuals and regions, and enable workers to access opportunity in their communities in the Appalachia, Delta and Northern Border regions. The University was one of 15 Appalachian Regional Commission recipients.
