Alumni Host First Impact Center Trips & Tours Event

Three Muskingum alumni who serve as sports administrators at The Ohio State University hosted more than 30 Muskingum University students for a career development visit, the first event in the new Trips & Tours program offered by Muskingum’s Impact Center.

Visitors Bring Expertise to Campus

Muskingum University alumni and other experts in a variety of fields visited campus during the spring semester, sharing their experiences and perspectives with students.

The Otto and Fran Walter Humanitarian Fellows hosted Dr. Hollie Nyseth Nzitatira for a talk about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The Walter Fellows program expands students’ understanding of local and global peace and justice initiatives.

Honoring Achievement: Academic, Leadership, and Athletics

At the close of Muskingum University’s spring 2024 semester, three annual ceremonies were held to honor outstanding achievements in the realms of academics, campus leadership, and athletics.

On April 12, the Celebration of Excellence was held in Brown Chapel to recognize exceptional academic success. Dr. Keith Eberly, the 2023 recipient of Muskingum’s Faculty Service Award delivered the keynote address.

Muskingum Celebrates the Class of 2024

Muskingum University celebrated the Class of 2024 on May 3 and 4, 2024.

The weekend began Friday evening with the Senior Sendoff at 7 p.m. in the Bullock Complex, where graduating seniors shared a toast with faculty and staff.

The traditional Baccalaureate was held in Brown Chapel at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The theme of the 2024 service was “Cultivating Kindness."

Professor Santas Selected for NetVUE Faculty Fellows Seminar

Muskingum University Professor of Biology Amy Santas has been selected to attend NetVUE’s June 2024 Faculty Fellows Seminar “Leading Vocational Exploration on Campus.” 

The experience will prepare conference participants, who were chosen through a competitive process, to design and lead training for their peers on best practices for incorporating meaning and purpose exercises into the classroom.

Muskies Participate in Final Four Events

During the 2024 NCAA Women’s Final Four® in Cleveland, Ohio, several Muskingum University students and coaches had unique opportunities to participate in the Connecting Cleveland and WeCOACH events and to volunteer at Tourney Town.

Connecting Cleveland, presented by AT&T on April 4, brought college students from across the NCAA divisions together for a day of engaging with sports industry leaders. Lauren Hertle ’26, and Ethan Taylor ’25 were among the 200 students selected to attend through a competitive application process.

First Year Reflections with Chaplain Derek Wadlington

Chaplain Derek Wadlington joined Muskingum University on Aug. 1, 2023.

“I have loved my first year here at Muskingum,” Chaplain Derek reflected. “Everyone is committed to helping students understand who they are growing into and helping them discern their calling and their place in the world. There is such a great energy here, along with a commitment to collaborating across the campus to serve our students.”

Muskies in NYC: Model UN & AlumNight

Muskingum University’s Model United Nations team traveled to New York from March 31-April 6 to participate in the annual Model UN Conference and attend a session of the United Nations. Advised by Associate Professor of Political Science Richard Arnold, the team represented Lithuania at the conference and received an Honorable Mention award.
