Students and New Concord Residents Come Together on Community Day

The Friends of New Concord hosted the inaugural New Concord Community Day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on September 2, 2023, bringing together and strengthening the connections between Muskingum University students, faculty, staff, and Village residents.

The following were named to the “Players to Watch” lists by the Ohio Athletic Conference for the 2023-2024 season:

Dublin City Schools Partnership Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Muskingum University and the Dublin City Schools recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of their partnership program, which provides Dublin’s teaching staff with professional development and graduate credit opportunities.

The partnership includes two annual conferences. Attendees prepare written reflections on what they have learned, which are adjudicated and evaluated for graduate level credit by Muskingum educator preparation faculty.

Montgomery Family Travels to Campus to Celebrate Life of Mollie Montgomery ‘60

Seventeen members of the extended Montgomery family traveled from across the country to celebrate the life and legacy of Mollie Montgomery ’60 (1937-2023), who grew up on campus.

Mollie was the only child of Ruth Kelley Montgomery and Robert “Doc Bob” Montgomery, who was Muskingum’s longest serving President (1932-1962). She was the granddaughter of J. Knox Montgomery, who established the University’s footprint during his Presidency (1904-1931).

Professor Barbara Hansen Honored

Muskingum University’s Dr. Barbara Hansen, Dave Longaberger Professor of Teaching and Learning and Distinguished Professor of Education, was honored with the 2023 Ohio Council for Professors of Educational Leadership (OCPEA) Engler Award for Exemplary Leadership.

Dr. Hansen has been teaching Muskingum undergraduate and graduate students for the past 15 years. She previously taught English Language Arts to middle school and high school students and served in principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent positions.
