Jacquelyn Lenox Tuxill ’63 Authors “Whispers From the Valley of the Yak”

Jacquelyn Lenox Tuxill ’63 has authored “Whispers From the Valley of the Yak: A Memoir of Coming Full Circle.” 

Jackie was born in Chengdu, China during World War II to medical missionaries. Her family fled to India and later settled in West Viginia. After initially rejecting her connection to her birth country, a return trip to China with her parents in 1980 led to life-changing revelations.

Muskingum Valley Youth Wind Ensemble Announced

Muskingum University’s Department of Music announced that it will launch the inaugural Muskingum Valley Youth Wind Ensemble (MVYWE) in January 2024.

The MVYWE will provide talented high school wind players and percussionists with opportunities to further develop their musical skills.

The high school students will work with Muskingum faculty and students in two rehearsals each month, held on Sunday afternoons starting Jan. 7, 2024.

On April 28, 2024, the MVYWE will perform in a shared concert with Muskingum bands in Brown Chapel.

Athletics Day of Giving Makes An Impact

On Sept. 7, 2023, Muskingum University held an Athletics Day of Giving to support all athletic teams.

More than $113,000 was raised, with more than 1,000 donors participating.

These generous donations from alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff will help provide Muskingum student-athletes with outstanding athletic and academic experiences and strengthen the overall competitiveness of the University’s athletic programs.

Basketball Teams Hold Youth Clinic

Muskingum University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted a free youth clinic at the YMCA in Zanesville on Oct. 28, 2023.

The college student-athletes led Pre-K to 2nd grade boys and girls through a variety of skill development sessions.

Each child who participated in the clinic will receive free admission to the men’s and women’s Fighting Muskies’ basketball games.

Joel Allen ’69 Authors “A Baseball Journey Through Life”

Joel Allen ’69 has authored “A Baseball Journey Through Life.” 

The book is about baseball, baseball parks, and America’s big cities and small towns, wrapped around the author’s life journey, including a chapter on his years at Muskingum. 

A retired software engineer, Joel earned his Muskingum bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in physics from Texas Christian University.

He and his wife Lidia reside in Tucson, Arizona.

John Glenn Artwork To Mark 50th Anniversary

John H. Glenn, Jr. ’43 (1921-2016) is honored with a stained-glass window in San Francisco’s historic Grace Cathedral.

Installed in 1964, the window is set to mark its 50th Anniversary among the Cathedral’s unique and renowned collection of stained glass and other art treasures, which draws visitors from all over the world.
