Muskie Greek Week Virtually Took Place April 19-25

Muskingum University’s Office of Greek Affairs kicked off Greek Week 2020 as a virtual event for all past and present Muskies April 19-25. It took place on the MUGreek Muskies page on Instagram and Twitter, and through each Greek organization’s social media accounts, the week featured daily share challenges and opportunities to collect points.

Daily themes included:

Online Academic Support for Student Success

Even though our students are away from campus, the services they rely on to help support their academic success are available remotely.

Dr. Shelley Amstutz-Szalay, Dean of Student Educational Services, notes that the campus-wide use of Microsoft Office 365 as a common framework for completing coursework, video conferencing, and remote file access and file sharing, is tremendously beneficial for supporting student success.

Admission Office Links to Incoming Students

Even though our incoming class members are unable to visit campus in person this spring, our Admission Office is keeping in close touch.

Each student who was registered to attend our "Get Hooked on Muskingum Accepted Student Day" in March is receiving a box of Muskingum goodies with personalized notes.

Admission representatives and coaches remain in close touch with all of their prospective students through email, texting, and social media platforms.

Support Continues for Those Remaining on Campus

A small group of students who are unable to return to their primary residences remain safely housed on campus, joining their off-campus classmates and faculty in remote learning.

Aramark is providing take-out meals from Patton Dining Hall for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for these students as well as for University staff who continue to perform essential on-campus jobs. For a few students who are unable to come to the dining hall, Aramark delivers prepared meals along with some basic grocery items.

Student Senate Operates Virtually

“It is still important for us to be Muskies together, even if we cannot be together in person,” Muskingum University Student Senate President Zoey Stenson ’21 explains.

The Student Senate continues to meet virtually, working to advance multiple projects and continue to fulfill its role as the bridge between students and the University’s administration.

The Senate is developing and will soon be launching multiple student engagement events on social media.

Muskingum Pivots to Online Learning Through the End of the Semester

All of Muskingum’s classes have now moved to an off-campus learning environment through the end of the Spring 2020 semester, thanks to the dedication and creativity of faculty and staff from across the campus.

The Muskie community quickly came together to transform the way we deliver our students’ education:
