Muskies Honored with Athletic and Academic Accolades

Muskingum University student-athletes competing during the Spring 2022 sports season received national, regional, and Ohio Athletic Conference recognitions for their athletic and academic accomplishments.

Muskies Complete Summer Research Projects

Muskingum University students are completing in-depth research projects this summer through the Muskie Research Fellows and related Research Fellows opportunities.

These selective programs provide students with a stipend and campus housing, allowing them to spend the summer working in collaboration with faculty members in hands-on research.

Cheryl Hetrick Carpenter ’86 Elected Chair of Board of Trustees

Cheryl Hetrick Carpenter ’86 has been elected Chair of the Muskingum University Board of Trustees. She will serve a three-year term, which began July 1, 2022.

She succeeds Dr. Kim Gage Rothermel ’71, who led the Board as Chair from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2022, before retiring as Trustee Emerita after 25 years of Board service.

Summer Internships Provide Hands-On Learning

Muskingum students from majors throughout the University are spending their summers in internships across the country, gaining hand-on experiences in their respective fields.

Geology major Joshua Corwin ’22 is interning at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earthquake Science Center in Menlo Park and Moffett Field, California. Joshua and his dog traveled cross-country to California in his camper, where they are living this summer.

Muskingum Selected for Curriculum-to-Career Innovations Institute

Muskingum University has been selected as one of 54 institutions to participate in the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Curriculum-to-Career Innovations Institute.

The Fall 2022 virtual institute, co-directed by the AAC&U and IBM, will focus on supporting efforts to develop campus-industry partnerships and to strengthen connections between university learning and workforce preparation. Experts from higher-education and industry will serve as mentors.

BHWC Grand Opening Set for September 17, 2022

The Grand Opening of Muskingum University’s new Henry D. Bullock Health and Wellness Complex will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The Grand Opening event is part of the University’s 100th Homecoming celebration on September 16-18, 2022. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds Presents Summer Concerts

The Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds is in concert for two performances during the Summer of 2022. This summer’s program, “A Touch of Broadway,” features medleys from classic Broadway shows.

Their next performance is August 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival in the Cambridge City Park. On June 28, they were on stage at New Concord’s Village Park as part of the Celebrate New Concord concert series.
