Muskingum University has named William (Bill) O’Hayer as its Vice President for Finance and Operations.

“I am excited to be joining the Muskingum community,” he said. “The level of innovation here is impressive – the University is forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to continuously improving its ability to serve its students and the region. Everyone is so welcoming, and it is clear there is a strong teamwork atmosphere.”

Bill brings extensive higher education experience to the role, combined with a broad business background in the health care, manufacturing, and real estate sectors. He previously served as the Senior Director of Finance and Administration for the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

“The opportunity to be part of Muskingum’s educational mission is very important to me,” Bill commented. “I am a lifelong learner, and I enjoy helping colleagues and students develop their skills and providing them with opportunities to explore new areas.”

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, Indiana) and a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana). He also earned a Certified Public Account (CPA) license and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.

Bill is a self-taught acoustic guitarist who enjoys singing and playing in a classic acoustic rock duo.

Bill’s family includes his wife Marissa, their son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Chelsea, their daughter Aileen and son-in-law Ryan Seay, one grandchild, and one grandchild on the way.
