Muskingum University Receives $200,000 in Capital Bill Funding to Support the Health & Wellness Complex
State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) Leads Effort to allocate funds for the Transformational Campus Project Under Senate Bill 310
Muskingum University today announced, in partnership with Zane State College, it will receive $200,000 in Capital Bill Funding to support the Health & Wellness Complex through the recently passed Senate Bill 310.
The largest capital project in the University’s history, the HWC will provide new and upgraded facilities for academic programs, athletics, recreation and wellness. Construction on the project began in summer 2020, with completion scheduled for fall of 2022.
The HWC will feature:
- A state-of-the-art Diagnostic Hub with new opportunities for student learning, clinical experiences and research in a wide range of health-related areas. Outfitted with equipment for innovative diagnostic, performance, and treatment services for students and area residents, the Diagnostic Hub will also provide virtual connections to the campus, regional healthcare providers, business and industry, and other educational institutions.
- An extensive fitness center with equipment for diagnosis and treatment of injuries as well as general fitness use.
- Multi-purpose classrooms.
- An upgraded stadium with new seating, upgraded concourse and hospitality areas, and full accessibility.
- A multi-use fieldhouse for indoor track and field (both collegiate and high school), and practice space for Muskingum varsity athletic teams.
In a recent press release, Senator Schaffer announced the unanimous passage of the bill for capital appropriations throughout Ohio. Over $4.3 million in funds will be allocated for numerous projects, such as the Health and Wellness Complex, throughout the 20th Ohio Senate District.
“I am excited that we are getting these funds out to some outstanding projects in the district,” Schaffer said. “This is some much needed great news for our local communities in a year that has been difficult for so many Ohioans.”
