Foreign language students recognized by Ohio Foreign Language Association
Three Muskingum College students have been recognized by the Ohio Foreign Language Association (OLFA) for excellence in language studies.
Ryan Bobst '07, a German and international affairs major from Washington Court House; Erica Hoyt ’06, who graduated from Muskingum last December; and Jocelyn Workman '07, an international affairs, French and political science major from Columbus; each were recognized for their studies in German, Spanish and French, respectively.
Bobst was recognized for his success as a German major, his study of French and Spanish and his interest in foreign language and international studies beyond work in the classroom, including his service as the Phi Sigma Iota foreign language honorary president.
Hoyt was selected for her excellence as a Spanish education major, her study of French, her service as an officer of Phi Sigma Iota and her volunteer service in the Dominican Republic.
Workman was noted for her academic achievements as a French major, her study of German and Spanish and her service beyond the classroom as president of the French Club and vice president of Phi Sigma Iota.
The three students will receive their awards at the college’s Modern Language Department awards and recognitions ceremony, to be held on April 24.
OFLA is one of the premier language organizations in the United States. It provides scholarships for students and teachers, promotes study abroad, holds regional workshops for professional development and provides professional in-service training through its annual conference.
