Laudations is an online collection spotlighting the professional contributions Muskingum University faculty and staff make to their respective disciplines.

ART

Professor of Art Yan Sun’s oil painting “Fishing Boat Maintenance” was selected for the Oil Painters of America 2021 Eastern Regional Exhibition, hosted by the Art Center Manatee, in Bradenton, Florida from September 28 – October 22, 2021. The exhibition includes 111 paintings from the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

HISTORY

Associate Professor and Chair of History Karen Dunak was quoted in an article about the nature of modern wedding celebrations in Vogue magazine.

Professor of History Laura Hilton  published the article “Memorialization, Reconciliation, & Reflection: Teaching the Aftermaths of Genocide in Postwar Europe and Rwanda,” in The History Teacher, Volume 54 (2), 2021.

NURSING

Assistant Professor of Nursing Terra Armstead was recently part of an American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) panel who developed and published "Hyper K - Recognition and Treatment of Hyperkalemia in the Emergency Department." The panel included five physicians, a pharmacist, and Professor Armstead, and the management algorithm is published on the ACEP website and in the ACEP point of care app.

PHILOSOPHY

Associate Professor and Chair of Religion and Philosphy Robert Sharp authored the book Ethics Online: How the Internet and Other Technology Shifts are Changing Morality (First Edition), published by Cognella, Inc., 2021.

POLITICAL SCIENCE

Associate Professor of Political Science Richard Arnold published the article “Putin Expresses Support for Cossack Battalion in Russian National Guard,” in the Eurasia Daily Monitor, Volume 18, Issue 118, on July 26, 2021. Richard also authored the book Russia and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, published by Routledge, 2021.

SOCIOLOGY

Assistant Professor of Sociology Michelle Oyakawa, co-authored the book Prisms of the People: Power and Organizing in the Twenty-First Century, published by the University of Chicago Press, 2021.
