Muskingum University Student Organizations to Host Relay For LifeSeveral Muskingum University student organizations are coming together to host a Relay For Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The event is Saturday, Oct. 22 from 2 to 8 p.m. on the University’s outdoor track.
In addition to an opening ceremony, there will be hourly activities, a survivor ceremony at 6 p.m., and a closing ceremony. There will be live music throughout the day, including a performance by Muskingum’s Muskie Rocks, food trucks, and activities for kids.
This year, the event is open to the community. Individuals can create a team or can join one of the existing teams. The event planners recommend teams of 6-10 individuals. Community members also can donate to existing teams or purchase a luminaria, which will be decorated and lit by candlelight to display during the survivor ceremony.
The Relay For Life is a walk-a-thon fundraiser in association with the American Cancer Society. All donations are used for cancer research and several accommodation services provided by the American Cancer Society.
