Muskie is High School Principal of the YearChuck Rinkes ’91, ’01 MAE, ’17 EDS was honored by the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OSSA) as the 2018 High School Principal of the Year Award.
A 27-year career educator, Mr. Rinkes is Principal of River View High School in Warsaw, Ohio.
He joined the River View Local School District in 1996 and served as a special education teacher and as an assistant principal before becoming High School Principal in 2009. He was previously a special education teacher in the Ridgewood Local and Tuslaw Local school districts.
He has held multiple leadership roles in Ohio professional education associations and has also coached high school sports, including golf and baseball.
In announcing the award, OSSA praised Mr. Rinkes as “an individual of great integrity, who routinely sacrifices in order to give to others,” noting that he is a “mentor, an educational leader who pushes his staff and students to be their very best.”
Mr. Rinkes received his award at an April 13, 2018 River View High School assembly, where his secretary, Angie Speicher, was also honored as the Secretary of the Year by OSSA. It is the first time that OSSA has honored two individuals in the same school district and building with these awards in the same year.
