Summer Internships and Study Away

  • Muskingum students participate in summer and semester long internships. 
    • Internship course (IDIS 300). Developed to educate students about internships and how they can be a career catalyst.

    • Career Field Experience (IDIS 250). Gives students the opportunity to work at a business or organization to give early insight into the professional realm in a hands-on setting.

  • Many students choose to study abroad during spring break, May term, and during the semester. Study away is a high impact experience that may involve an internship and/or class research.

Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center-Volunteer Opportunity

Breaking Free is an equine therapy program in New Concord, OH. Volunteers are needed for horse therapy sessions, day camp helper, feeder, maintenance, and fundraisers. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and complete an interview and training/safety course.

Sports Force Parks- Summer Internships

Sports Force Parks is a multi-use sports complex located in Sandusky, Ohio, hosting over 50 events per year with the operating season running from March - November. The majority of tournaments are baseball and softball, but also host soccer, lacrosse, and football tournaments. Sports Force Parks is under the ownership of Ripken Baseball, one of the leaders in the youth baseball industry.

McWane Ductile is a manufacturer of ductile iron pipe and utility poles. There are several internship opportunities for the summer of 2024 including internships in engineering, sales, continuous improvement, supply chain, environmental, and safety.

Bethel Community Center-Kindergarten Readiness Program-Local

A 5-week program designed to help pre-school aged children prepare for kindergarten. The Bethel Community Center is located in Zanesville. Student teachers would be required to work 9:30 to 1:30 each day from Monday, July 15th through Thursday, August 15.

Cambridge Police Department Law Enforcement Careers

$52,000- $60,320 Starting Salary to Top Out.

Appointment requirements include:

Successful completion of a physical agility exam, oral interview, background check, medical and psychological exam, and drug screening appropriate to Law Enforcement. Residency requirement is adjacent county to Guernsey County per contract.  New hires will have 90 days to relocate to the contractual area.

Dawes Arboretum Environmental Professionals Training Program

An Advanced Training Program specifically designed for recent graduates and emerging conservation professionals seeking direct experience and practical skills to enhance credentials and assist in career advancement opportunities. This program provides specialized knowledge in conservation of natural resources and landscape management through training alongside Arboretum staff.  Program participants, or “Residents,” gain the skills necessary to conduct ecosystem restoration, invasive species control, plant propagation, educational programming, and wildlife monitoring, while networking with fellow conservation professionals in the field.
