Make the extraordinary seem ordinary. Students in Orbit Media’s Media Production program will tell you first hand that while this concept seems simple, it is, in fact, complex. As the University developed and implemented safety measures to limit social distancing this past fall, all in-person campus performances were canceled. So, the group, led by Michael Carvaines, assistant professor of Media Communication, set out to make these performances seem as ordinary as possible.
In early September, with Disability Awareness & Inclusion month just a few short weeks away, staff from Muskingum University’s Disability Education office (DEO), PLUS Program, and Diversity, Access & Inclusion (DAI) office began brainstorming the most appropriate ways to celebrate the important October event on campus.
Memorable. Historic. Significant. Scrutinized. Any and all of these adjectives can be used to describe the 2020 Presidential election. The voting process throughout the country, made possible each year by dedicated staff and volunteers who work for months at a time to prepare for an election, is now more than ever before under the microscope of the American public.
