Suzanne Seidel Barnes Brown, Class of 1962
Suzanne Barnes Brown, 83, of Medina, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday, March 16, 2024.
She was born July 6, 1940, in Buffalo, New York to Paul and Susan Seidel as the youngest, with three other siblings, Marian, Paul, and Dick.
In her early childhood, the family moved to several towns along the Erie Railroad, but she spent the majority of her childhood in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She attended Muskingum University and Case Western Reserve University, where she graduated with degrees in nursing. After college, she married her husband of 38 years, Phillip Barnes, and settled in Medina, Ohio where they raised their four children.
In addition to her nursing career, Sue dedicated her life to service. She spent years volunteering for various organizations and most recently, dedicated her and her beloved dog, Casey’s, time at Western Reserve Hospice of Medina. In 2005, she remarried Walley Brown who preceded her in death in 2007. Sue will be remembered by family and friends by her steadfast faith in God and unrelenting kindness; a woman of integrity, courage, and a youthful spirit.
Sue is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bill) Meadows, Becky (Craig) Summers, Jenny Doraty, and Jeff (Shannon) Barnes. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Jordan Bruzda, Adam (Maria) Harris, Jessica (Trent) Johnson, Sam (Marissa) Meadows, Meghan (Marc) Ineman, Andrew Harris (Karlie), Alex Harris, Katherine (Jake) Kinsey, Jack (Rachel) Meadows, Mitch Doraty (Izzi), Molly Meadows (Wes), Marie Meadows, Norah (Mike) Bacho, Sophia Barnes, and Ben Barnes; as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by three special family friends, Kenneth Houck and John and Marie Reali.
