Rose Ann Swope Machina, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away March 11, 2024. She was born November 17, 1934 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Russell and Martha Swope. Rose graduated Magna Cum Laude from Muskingum University in 1956. She married Rev. Francis Machina, August 4, 1962, and he preceded her in death January 8, 2012. Rose was a bookkeeper for Lutheran Child & Family Services for over 20 years. She was a past member of Christ Lutheran Church, Irvington, and a current member of St. John Lutheran Church. As a partner in Frank's ministry for almost 50 years, she was active in church choir, Ladies Aid, LWML, Lutheran World Relief, teaching Sunday School, VBS, member visitations, and bible studies. As her health declined, and travel was difficult, she particularly loved studying God's word with her friends at Fall Creek Church. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 6630 Southeastern Avenue, with visitation one hour prior. Rose is survived by her children, Laurie R. Gwaltney (David) and Tim L. Machina (Tina); and grandchildren, Rose Alyse Cannon (Bradan) and Holton C. Gwaltney. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Machina.
