Thomas A. Wilson, III, Class of 1960
homas A. Wilson, III, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born July 7, 1938, in North Braddock, the son of the late Thomas A. Wilson, Jr. and Florence M. Phillips Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School, and then graduated from Muskingum College with a B.S. in education with a major in mathematics.
He taught mathematics in the Trinity Area School District for 34 years, retiring in 1996.
In his spare time he enjoyed making stained glass and fused glass artwork, and visiting his cottage at Youghiogheny Lake.
He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Prosperity, where he previously served as an elder.
He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966.
He was blessed to receive a heart transplant in 1997 and a kidney transplant in 2000, and was a strong advocate for organ donation. He spent some time volunteering and speaking at events for organ donation through C.O.R.E. (the Center for Organ Recovery and Education).
On August 25, 1962, he married Rebecca E. Jones, and had two daughters. Mrs. Wilson died March 27, 1991.
On June 6, 1992, he married Judith I. Cooper, who survives.
Also surviving are: daughters, Rebecca Ann Schreiber and Lisa Lynn Cino; and four grandchildren, Rebecca, Julianna, Kara and Joseph Cino.
