Myron Stiers, Class of 1951

Myron Thomas Stiers, 95, of Salesville, passed away Thursday (June 15, 2023) at his home. He was born November 10, 1927 in Salesville, son of the late Thomas Earl Stiers and Fidessa M. (Rich) Stiers. Myron graduated from Senecaville High School in 1946 and from Muskingum College in 1951. He was a lifelong farmer and also a school teacher for thirty years at Cambridge City Schools. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, and woodworking. He also enjoyed masonry work. In his lifetime, Myron built nine houses! He was a member of the Senecaville United Methodist Church and a member of the Farm Bureau. Myron was a US Army veteran, having served in Germany from 1946 to 1948. He was a rifle expert during his military serviceIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth J. (Allen) Stiers, who passed away January 8, 2015. They were married June 4, 1950. Also deceased are two brothers, Wilford Stiers and Ronald Stiers. Myron is survived by a son, Matthew A. (Debra) Stiers; a daughter, Elizabeth "LizAnne" (Richard) Chumney; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Stiers and Rebecca Stiers Oliphant; five grandchildren, Joshua (Jenny) Stiers, Suzanne (Chris) Clark, Kassandra (Brian) Shafer, Tom (Jenna) Chumney, and Adam (Lacey) Chumney; three step-grandchildren, Franklin (Allison) Gadd, Timothy (Jessica) Gadd, and Julie Gadd; nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren
