Margaret Ann Wyler Hamilton, Class of 1956
Margaret Ann “Peggy” Hamilton, 91, of Barrington, Illinois, formerly of Coshocton passed away at The Garlands of Barrington on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Peggy was born in Fresno, Ohio on August 22, 1931, to the late Russell H. and Grace C. (Thomas) Wyler. She was a lifelong resident of Coshocton County until she moved to be closer to her family at age 89. She grew up on a farm in Fresno helping her family with the chores even while attending classes in college.
She graduated from Fresno High School in the class of 1949 and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Muskingum University. Peggy was an elementary school teacher throughout her life. She had a special bond with her students and treasured the memories she created with them. She retired having taught over 35 years in Coshocton County, mostly at Lincoln Elementary School, and she taught up to three generations within a family. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1973.
Peggy was also involved with the West Lafayette Chapter of Eastern Star, 1969 Delta Kappa Gamma, Trirosis Club, Historical Club, Jennings Scholar (1974-1975), served on the Board of Directors of Coshocton County Memorial Hospital from 1990-2002, and was a life member of NEA, OEA and ORTA.
She enjoyed painting her late husband’s carved wooden characters, playing bridge, hausey and golf. Peggy treasured her moments cheering on her girls and granddaughter in their activities and sporting events. After retiring, she and her husband traveled to visit her girls more often, enjoying time with their families and their pets. She was their number one cheerleader!
Peggy is survived by her daughters Sue (John) Beardslee of Cody, WY and Diane (Brian) Ferron of Hawthorn Woods, IL; granddaughter Katie Beardslee of Littleton, CO; sister-in-laws Arlene Wyler, Norma (Jim) Shroyer, brother-in-law Robert (Leann) Hamilton; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and brother, Tom Wyler, she is preceded in death by her husband Harold R. Hamilton whom she married June 5, 1952, Harold passed away on March 19, 2018.
