About
The Financial Literacy Program is a free, four-year program consisting of eight modules, which lead to the completion of eight digital badges. Any student earning all eight badges will be awarded the Financial Literacy Super Badge. Program planning began in May 2021, and the official student launch took place during the Spring 2022 semester.
The program focuses on the principles of earning, saving, protecting, spending, and borrowing money. Topics include:
Paying for College | Money Management | Personal Credit |
Personal Budgets | Protecting Your Finances | Business Budgets |
Real-World Finance | Insurance Basics |
There are four levels to the program. To ensure relevance, timely topics have been placed at each level. For example, the best time to explore the topic of renting vs owning a home is NOT during a student’s first year at college. This topic is most relevant to seniors.
NEW! Muskingum now offers one-credit courses each semester to cover content from the Financial Literacy Program! For those interested in a more guided approach to financial literacy topics, look for these courses with a prefix of IDIS (interdisciplinary) in the course catalog.
