Lucinda "Cindy" Jean Casey, Class of 1965

Lucinda "Cindy" Jean Casey, age 80, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 8, 2022. Born on September 3, 1942 in Hamburg, New York, Cindy was the daughter of Richard and Alma Jean Miller. Cindy earned her Bachelor's Degree from Muskingum University. She was fluent in French and Spanish, which she used while traveling alone through Europe for three months. After graduation, Cindy worked as a systems analyst at Mellon State Bank. She then attended Indiana University where she earned her Master's Degree and met her husband of 53 years, Paul Casey. Following her time at Indiana University, she served as Assistant Dean of Students at Waldorf College, and later was director of the Foster Grandparents Program in North Vernon, Indiana. Cindy worked for Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus for 33 years. Cindy started her career at Ivy Tech as Admissions Coordinator, assisted in development of the then emerging Bloomington Campus, and ended her career as Executive Director of Administration. Cindy enjoyed playing the clarinet in the Columbus City Band, and served on many civic boards throughout her many years in Columbus. She was selfless and giving of her time towards her community, church, and family. Cindy is survived by her husband, Paul Casey; son, Brian Casey (spouse Heavenly); daughter, Laura Cox (spouse Rick); grandsons, Mark and Logan Casey; step-grandson, Jaden Cox; brother, Willard Miller; sisters, Debbie Gabler, Melissa Miller, and Jennifer Keller-Miller.
