Geraldine Woodie Nichols, Class of 1964

Geraldine R. Nichols, 92, of Coshocton peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday October 2, 2022. She was born in Coshocton on August 13, 1930, to the late George D. and Grace S. (Randles) Fisher. Geraldine was a devoted member of The Presbyterian Church of Coshocton where she attended since 1939. She graduated from Conesville High School in the class of 1948, and then attended The Ohio State University for one year. Geraldine graduated from Muskingum University and began her teaching career in 1955 at Fresno Elementary School. Throughout her teaching career, she also taught at Conesville and Keene Elementary in Coshocton County and French Run Elementary in Columbus. In 1980-1981 she was a Jennings Scholar to Capital University in Columbus. After retiring from teaching in River View School District, she was employed as Historian in Roscoe Village from 1986-1990. From 1991-2000 she resided in Naples, Florida. Her affiliations included the Ohio Teachers Association, Coshocton County Retired Teachers Association, Coshocton Historical Club, and Coshocton County Genealogy Society. Family, friends, church, children, and teaching were the love of her life. Geraldine is survived by her son Jim (Terrie) Woodie; granddaughter Tricia (Troy) Balo; grandson Dusty (Michelle) Woodie; four great-grandsons Ethan, Wesley, and Riley Woodie and Zach Balo; one great-granddaughter Haley Balo; six nieces and eight nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters, Wathena Krieder, Colleen Hammersley, Pauline Hootman and Patricia Saxton; three brothers, George Fisher, Dewey Fisher and infant brother, Vincent Fisher.
