Annis Elizabeth Sauerbrey, Class of 1993
Annis E. Sauerbrey, 80, of Dresden, Ohio died Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022 in the emergency department of Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. Born June 4, 1942 in Dresden she was a daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite (Howell) Lacy and was a 1960 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Annis was also a graduate of Ohio Northern University where she received a bachelor's degree in education. In 1993 she received her master's degree in education from Muskingum University. Annis retired from Tri-Valley Schools where she taught seventh grade English for many years and later she taught fourth grade at Frazeysburg Elementary School. Prior to her teaching at Tri-Valley, she was Physical Education instructor at Ridgewood Schools and Coshocton Schools. Annis was a member of Dresden Presbyterian Church; the Jefferson Alumni Scholarship Committee and several area book clubs and quilt clubs. She loved travelling, watching sports and watching The Hallmark Channel. She received her most enjoyment when she was with her loving family. Annis especially enjoyed watching her grandsons running track and cross-country events. Surviving is one son, Wade (Letitia) Sauerbrey of Dresden; two daughters, Sara Elizabeth (Ken) Buch of Germantown, Maryland and Suzan (Perry) Harden of Findlay, Ohio and three grandsons, Caden Sauerbrey, Nathan Sauerbrey and Michael Harden. Also surviving are two sisters, Judy (Ronnie Hittle) Zimmer of Cambridge, Ohio and Dixie Lacy of Texas and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Annis was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Wilbur H. Sauerbrey whom she married June 20, 1964 and who died May 12, 2019.
