Susan Noel Mahaffey, Class of 1988
Susan Noel Mahaffey, 55, passed away suddenly on March 25, 2021 from complications due to Multiple Sclerosis. She was diagnosed in 2003 with the disease of which she fought a long courageous and brave battle. She was born on December 24, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio. She was a resident at the Country View of Sunbury nursing home. Susan is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Cindy and David Gotschall of South Charleston, Ohio; beloved niece Hannah T. M. Gotschall of Westerville, Ohio; aunt and uncle Judy and Jim Anspaugh of Goodyear, Arizona; step aunt and uncle Carol and Steve Miller of Centennial, Colorado and numerous family members and friends. She is predeceased by parents Wayne and Diana Mahaffey, grandparents L. Burdette and Dorothy Jane Jones Miller, step grandfather Perry E. Miller and other family members. Susan graduated in 1984 from Westerville South High School where she was an active member of the award-winning marching band, playing the trumpet and flugelhorn. Also a member of the schools orchestra and the National Honor Society. She was a 1988 graduate of Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio with a Bachelors degree in International Business. She was also an FAD Club member there. Susan received a teaching certificate from Otterbein College in Westerville in 1993. She substituttaught for the Westerville school district on occasion. She was a 20-year employee of Roush Hardware in their housewares department. Susan also worked for the Westerville Parks and Recreation department in several capacities.
