Margery A. Thomas Watson, Class of 1954

Margery A. (Thomas) Garrett Watson, 88, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Emerald Pointe Nursing & Rehabilition. She was born on November 21, 1932, in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Walter Fisher and Mary Leah (Stubbs) Thomas. Margery was a 1950 graduate of Barnesville High School and a 1954 graduate of Muskingum College. She taught Kindergarten for 19 years at Barnesville School and for 15 years at Elmherst School in Elmherst, Illinois. She also worked for Pederson-Ryberg Funeral Home in Elmherst and for Window Fashions by Beth in St. Clairsville. She was a member of the Barnesville First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Elder, and Trustee. She was past Secretary and Treasurer of Board of Deacons, past Presbytery Chairman, past Commissioner of Upper Ohio Valley of Presbytery, and past advisor to the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship. She was also past officer of the OES Barnesville Chapter and Barnesville Garden Club. Margery was a Charter Member of the White Iron Stone China Association, Inc., member of the Bells of the Valley Ladies Barbershop Chorus, and Red Hat Ramblers of Belmont County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister; sister, Mary Lee and Errol Brill; and niece, Kathy and Steve Hannig. Margery is survived by niece, Beth Smith of Barnesville, Tom (Beth) Brill of Barnesville; great-nieces & nephews, Holly Smith Schanks, Amy (Heath) Smith, Beth Ann (Jeremy) Starr, T.J. (Kristi) Hannig, and Mary Beth (Brian) Kwak; great-great nieces & nephews, Joshua, Emily, Hannah, Faith, Grace, Lincoln, Grace, Alden, Jared, Bailee, Camden, and Stella; and great-great-great nieces & nephews, Elowyn and Jenson.
