For Ohio Senator Tim Schaffer, “My key priority is to help my constituents. With the COVID-19 crisis, their need to access programs and resources offered by the state has never been greater.” 

“One of our state government’s greatest challenges right now is the volume of communication coming in to our agencies, which weren’t structured to meet this level of need all at once. We’ve been working hard to increase our capacity in key areas such as unemployment and small business assistance.”

My district has many small, family-owned businesses, and helping them through this crisis is especially critical for our economy. We also need to help our local governments find relief from COVID-19 shortfalls.”

“I miss being able to meet people in person right now. I like to be visible and accessible.  I’ve found other ways to connect during the pandemic but will be very happy when we can safely hold community events again.”

A graduate of the University of Mount Union where he was a student-athlete, Senator Schaffer is a firm believer in the value of a liberal arts-based educational experience and an enthusiastic supporter of Muskingum University.

Senator Schaffer represents Ohio Senate District 20, which includes all of Muskingum, Fairfield, Guernsey, Hocking, and Morgan Counties and parts of Athens and Pickaway Counties.  He is a veteran lawmaker who has served multiple terms in the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate.  He and his wife Lori reside in Lancaster, Ohio.
