Alumni & Friends in Action: Ohio Representative Adam Holmes
First-term Ohio Representative Adam Holmes serves the 97th Ohio House District, which includes Guernsey County and portions of Muskingum County.
“One of the first issues I began working on when I joined the House was the opioid crisis and its impact on Ohio residents and communities.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic has required us to shift our efforts. I’m currently serving on the House bipartisan Economic Recovery Task Force for restarting our economy.”
“At the same time, we still have to confront the very real health risks of the ongoing pandemic. We are very aware that the decisions we make can be life and death, and I draw on my military experience and preparation as we work through these challenges. The foundational tenets I apply to leadership are to have a servant heart, to act with integrity, and to give 100% effort.”
“Serving in the House of Representatives is enabling me to make an immediate impact on our local communities. We recently passed HB 679 or the Telemedicine Expansion Act, which I joint-sponsored. The bill expands the type of providers who can provide telehealth services, expands the services that can be delivered, and allows providers to see patients across state borders.”
“Muskingum University makes an immediate impact on our communities as well. The University is so supportive of its students and families, and that is especially evident now during the pandemic. The University is also very future-oriented, and our region will see both short-term and long-term benefits from Muskingum’s new initiatives around health and wellness.”
Representative Holmes retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps, after a 27-year career as a Marine aviator, including 40 combat missions and 3000 flight hours for global crisis response missions. Currently the CEO of Frueh Enterprises, a Zanesville mechanical and industrial contracting company, he is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master’s degree from the University of San Diego. He lives with his wife and their two children in Nashport, Ohio.
