For anyone with a bachelor’s degree in a field of study other than education who wants to become a licensed teacher
Master of Arts in Education (MAE) Admission
If you are a licensed teacher looking to add credentials or earn a master’s degree, applying to Muskingum is simple:
- Complete the online application form
- $20 Application Fee - credit card payment within application or by calling GCS at 740-826-8038
- Request official transcripts from the college and/or university where you earned your teaching license (must be sent directly from the institution to Muskingum to be considered official)
- Please have two individuals complete the Professional Disposition Survey
- Submit a copy of your teaching license(s)
- All education licensure candidates in the State of Ohio are required to demonstrate basic competencies in computer science. Please complete this requirement here: Computer Science & Computational Thinking (miamioh.edu) and email the certificate provided by Miami University to the email address listed below.
Master of Arts in Education (MAE) Graduate Alumni New Program Admission
If you are a graduate of an MU Graduate program looking to add another credential or earn a master’s degree, applying to Muskingum is simple:
- Complete this form
- Submit a copy of your teaching license(s)
- All education licensure candidates in the State of Ohio are required to demonstrate basic competencies in computer science. Please complete this requirement here: Computer Science & Computational Thinking (miamioh.edu) and email the certificate provided by Miami University to the email address listed below.
Master of Arts in Education (MAE) Adult Education Admission
If you hold a bachelor’s degree in any field of study and want to earn a master’s degree non licensure, applying to Muskingum is simple:
- Complete the online application form
- $20 Application Fee – credit card payment within application or by calling GCS at 740-826-8038
- Request official transcripts from the college and/or university where you earned your associates (if applicable) and bachelor's degrees (must be sent directly from the institution to Muskingum to be considered official)

If you hold a bachelor’s degree in a field of study other than education and wish to become a licensed teacher, applying to Muskingum is simple:
- Complete the online application form
- $20 Application Fee – credit card payment within application or by calling GCS at 740-826-8038
- Request official transcripts from the college or university where you earned your associates (if applicable) and bachelor's degrees (must be sent directly from the institution to Muskingum to be considered official)
- Please have two individuals complete the Professional Disposition Survey
- Submit a copy of a current Pre-Service Teaching Permit, Substitute License, Educational Aide, and/or Coaching Permit. If you do not have any of the above, please open an OH|ID Portal account and apply for a Pre-Service Teaching Permit (3 years). This is a law required by the State of Ohio Board of Education when enrolled in an Educator Preparation Program
- Copies of current BCI and FBI checks
- BCI/FBI locations may be found on the Ohio Attorney General website
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required for full admission. If your GPA is less than 3.00, you may begin courses under a conditional admission status with approval of the program director.
