Wind Ensemble to Perform “American Visions”The Muskingum University Wind Ensemble presents its 2019 fall touring program, “American Visions,” to be performed on three dates. All performances are free and open to the public:
- Wednesday, Nov. 6 (7 p.m.) at First United Presbyterian Church (1341 Juliana Street, Parkersburg, WV)
- Thursday, Nov. 7 (7 p.m.) at St. Matthew United Methodist Church (120 E. Third St, Weston, WV)
- Friday, Nov. 15 (7:30 p.m.) at Brown Chapel on campus.
The eclectic program includes John Mackey’s “Sheltering Sky;” Percy Grainger’s “Lincolnshire Posy;” John Philip Sousa’s “The Golden Star;” “Footlifter March” by Cincinnati native Henry Fillmore; and “An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli. Performing the program are a variety of ensembles, including small woodwind, brass, and percussion ensembles.
“The music featured in this performance highlights the great diversity of repertoire written for the concert band,” said Dr. David Turrill, director of bands and associate professor of Music at Muskingum University. “This challenging program will highlight the expertise of our ensemble.”
The Wind Ensemble at Muskingum University, located in New Concord, Ohio, is the University’s premiere instrumental ensemble and is comprised of students from all academic majors.
