On September 13, 2007, we dedicated our new 14,000-square-foot athletic complex, including the Cooper Wing, Kalnow Training Center, Jones Players’ Lounge, and the Sherman Gateway to Sherman Field.

These state-of-the-art spaces provide our students with a varsity football locker center, a freshman football locker center, a players’ lounge, a modern rehabilitation facility, therapeutic immersion pools, racquetball courts, meeting rooms, and a new gateway to Sherman Field.

These premier educational facilities support our student athletes and their excellence on and off the field.

Sandra and William Cooper

Muskingum College Board of Trustees member William A. “Cannonball” Cooper, Class of 1961, was a football All-American and a member of the senior men’s honorary. He played for the San Francisco 49ers and was the first Ohio Athletic Conference player inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Mr. Cooper holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University and is President of Cooper and Company, a California real estate firm. 

Sandra “Sonie” Cooper, Class of 1961, was a class officer; Freshman, Homecoming and May Queen; and a member of the international organization for Elementary Education majors. She has served as a volunteer for Hospice and the Ming Quong – Eastfield Junior Auxiliary in Santa Clara County. 

Kristin and Carl Kalnow

Muskingum College Board of Trustees member Carl Kalnow graduated from Muskingum in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He played both varsity soccer and baseball while at Muskingum. Mr. Kalnow serves as a private equity manager and bond underwriter for the national firm of Ross, Sinclaire & Associates, LLC. He serves on the boards of the Cincinnati Art Museum and The Kiski School. 

Kristin “Kris” Kalnow is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati  where she majored in Special Education. Mrs. Kalnow serves on the Board of Directors of the Cincinnati Zoo. She is especially interested in The Cheetah Conservation Fund which focuses on strategies for cheetah conservation in their natural habitat. 

Nancie and Martin Jones

Martin Jones, Class of 1951, graduated cum laude with a major in biology and played defensive guard on Coach Sherman’s 1949 and 1950 conference championship teams.

Dr. Jones graduated from medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. He served as Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, and set up mid-Michigan’s first hemo-dialysis program. He was appointed Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He was Ingham County’s outstanding physician in 1986 and is a member of the Sparrow Hospital Hall of Fame.

Nancie Orr Jones, Class of 1953, earned a master’s degree in child development and taught until 1999.
