Student-Athletes Receive AccoladesAcademic and athletic accolades were recently awarded to Muskingum University student-athletes from conference and national sports associations.
Congratulations and Go Muskies!
Archery: Muskie archers earned Medalist Honors at the USA Archery Northern 3D Championships in multiple events. Molly Cepek ’26, Carlie Ellsworth ’27, Paige Emory ’25, Gage Kennedy ’27, Jensen Lacroix ’27, Natalie Mallett ’27, and Grace Pedersen ’25 earned first place honors. Carlie, Gage, Grace, Kylee Brookover ’26, Madi Clemson ’27, Wes Ellsworth ’25, Kaitlyn Oswald ’27, and Braydin White ’26 also earned second place medals. Carlie, Wes, and Remington McClung ’24 captured third place finishes.
Bowling: The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) ranked Muskingum’s men’s bowling team 10th nationally and ranked the women’s bowling team 20th nationally at the opening of the bowling season.
Football: Receiver Ja’Lin Goodman ’24 was named to the D3football.com national Team of the Week and twice named Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Special Teams Player of the Week. Quarterback Doug Crawford ’24 was named OAC Offensive Player of the Week and OAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. New school records were set during the game against Ohio Northern as Ja’Lin tied the Muskingum record for longest kickoff return for a touchdown with a 98-yard run and Zuri Edmondson ’24 moved into the first-place ranking for career yards receiving with 2,173; Zuri also holds first place in career receptions with 144. During the game against Wilmington, Doug set the school record for passing yards in a game (511) and total offense in a game (578), and the team set the school record for first downs in a game with 37. Kicker Hunter Albers '24 also tied the school record for extra points made in a game with eight.
Men’s Golf: Nick Congrove ’24 was named an OAC Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Men’s Soccer: Mahfuz Yakubu ’24 was named to the All-OAC Third Team for his performance in the 2023 season.
Volleyball: Mackenzie Krous ’27 was named the OAC Newcomer of the Year and also received Second Team All-OAC honors; she is the first Muskie to receive Newcomer of the Year recognition since the award debuted in 1999. Katharine Clayton ’27 was named OAC Defensive Player of the Week.
