Keyes signs professional contract to play basketballFormer Muskingum University men's basketball standout Joshua Keyes ('17) has signed a two-year professional contract to play basketball for CS Cruza Sport Braila in Braila, Romania.
Keyes, a Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree and All-OAC Tournament selection, ended his Muskie tenure as the school record holder in career blocks (143), single-season blocks (61), single-game blocks (6) and career rebounds (725). He also scored 863 points during his four-year career.
"I am so excited for and proud of Josh Keyes. He has the chance to live out his dream of playing professional basketball overseas," said Muskingum Head Coach Travis Schwab. "As coaches, we all talk to our team about setting goals and working every day towards achieving these goals. To see Josh achieve his goal through sheer veracity, tenacity, and hard work makes me one proud coach!"
Keyes helped fuel the 2016-17 Muskies to a 5-0 start which was the best start of a season since the 1972-73 campaign. The record breaking opening of the year helped set the tone for a season that saw Muskingum advance to the OAC Tournament Final Four and record its most wins (14) since the 2008-09 year.
CS Cruza Sport Braila was founded in August 2007 and is led by coach Stefanescu Catalin. Last season, the team posted an 11-3 record and advanced to the Liga I semifinals.
