Omicron Delta Kappa gives back to the community
The Muskingum University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) has made a donation of more than $600 to the New Concord Food Pantry in an effort to give back to the community.
The chapter raised money by doing yard work in the New Concord area in exchange for donations, including raking leaves and other general cleanup projects. More than 30 chapter members helped, along with 11 Muskingum faculty members, who worked together at a total of 11 homes.
The food pantry, located at College Drive Presbyterian Church in New Concord, typically distributes 4,000 pounds of food per month to those in need.
ODK is the national leadership honor society founded on the idea that leadership of exceptional quality and versatility in college should be recognized, that representatives in all phases of college life should cooperate in worthwhile endeavors and that outstanding students, faculty and administration members should meet on a basis of mutual interest, understanding, and helpfulness.
Muskingum University senior Megan Duke is the chapter president and the faculty advisor is Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Shelley Amstutz-Szalay.
