Renovated Finney Hall ReopensMuskingum University’s Finney Hall reopened for student residency for the 2023 Fall Semester, following a year-long interior renovation project to better meet student needs. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house was held on August 11.
The building’s heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems were all updated.
Restrooms and shower spaces throughout the building were redesigned and renovated to be single use and fully accessible.
Each residence room received new furniture, and each floor has an updated lobby and study area. The main floor was enhanced with a large lounge, computer lab, laundry facility, and a meeting space for student organizations outfitted with a kitchenette.
Finney Hall opened in 1961 and has served upper class residential students since that time.
With kitchens on every floor, it is an especially popular choice among international students, who often prepare dishes from their cultures and introduce their fellow Muskies to new cuisines.
The University received funding from the Ohio Historic Tax Credit Program to assist with the cost of updating the historic building.
