Student-Athletes Earn Accolades

Academic and athletic accolades were recently awarded to Muskingum University student-athletes and coaches from conference and national sports associations.

Archery: Three Muskies set new school records at the USA Archery Indoor Nationals: Grace Pederson ’25 in Women’s Fixed Pins, Remington McClung ’24 in Men’s Fixed Pins, and Kylie Brookover ’26 in Women’s Compound.

Baseball: Four Muskies earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors. Wyatt Reeder ’24 and Tobie Teke ’25 were named Second Team All-OAC, and Weston Melick ’25 and Sam Palmieri ’26 were named Honorable Mention All-OAC. Sam and Ryan Schwartz ’24 were each named as an OAC Hitter of the Week.

Fourteen members of the team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Gino Barber ’24, Christopher Brison ’25, Liam Carey ’24, Jackson Duchesne ’26, Joey Eurez ’26, Louie Hess ’26, Weston Melick ’25, Sam Palmieri ’26, Brock Pfister ’25, Wyatt Reeder ’24, Travis Reynolds ’25, Jaxon Rinkes ’24, Dane Sparks ’26, and David Stiles ’26.

Men’s Basketball: Ethan Taylor ’25 was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team. Ethan and Shane Knepp ’26 were named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Academic Honor Roll. Duane Davis ’26 was named Honorable Mention All-OAC.

Women’s Basketball: Four Muskies were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team: Caitlyn DeMassimo ’25, Halle Morehead ’25, Claudia Harrington ’26, and Tori Jones ’26. Caitlyn, Hallie, Claudia, and Tori were also named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Honor Roll, along with Kenzie Bicking ’25.

Caitlyn was also named to the All-OAC First Team and Claudia received All-OAC Honorable Mention.

Men's Golf: Three members of the team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Cameron Henry ’24, Ethan Miller ’24, and Keegan Windle ’25.

Women’s Golf: Three members of the team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Molly Cepek ’26, Allison Jurkovic ’24, and Morgan Mullaly ’25.

Men’s Lacrosse: For the first time in program history, three Muskies earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors. Drew Schneider ’25 was named first-team All-OAC, Spencer Zecchini ’24 was named second-team All-OAC, and Trevor Connolly ’24 was Honorable Mention All-OAC. Spencer was also named as an OAC Offensive Player of the Week, and set new Muskingum records for the most points in a single game, most assists in a single game, and most assists in a season. Trevor was named as an OAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Five members of the team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Sam Bolen ’26, Trevor Connolly ’24, Jacob Sega ’24, Evan Showler ’24, and Spencer Zecchini ’24.

Women’s Lacrosse: For the second straight year, Riley Hudock ’25 was named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Second Team. She was also twice-named OAC Offensive Player of the Week this season and set new Muskingum records in career points, draw control, and caused turnovers. She also holds the single season records for goals, points, and draw controls. The team set a new Muskingum record for team assists in a game and tied the record for team goals in a game, and Hannah Heyboer ’24 set new records for individual assists in a game and individual assists in a season.

Four members of the team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll:  Hannah Heyboer ’24, Riley Hudock ’25, Kasi Tully ’26, and Riley Zwagerman ’25.

Softball: Madelyn Thomas ’24 was named the John Wells Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Pitcher of the Year, and twice received OAC Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Madelyn, Kalie Eshelman ’26, and Cara Taylor ’26 were all named First-Team All-OAC, Sadie Smith ’26 was named Second-Team All-OAC, and Tareyn Born ’27 was named Honorable Mention All-OAC. Cara was also named an OAC Hitter of the Week. Madelyn and Cara were both named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region.

Five members of the team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Lynsey Dudley ’25, Kalie Eshelman ’24, Sadie Smith ’26, Cara Taylor ’26, and Madelyn Thomas ’24.

Women’s Soccer: Morgan Meisel ’25 and Hannah Ritchie ’26 received  All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) Academic All-Ohio honors. They were both named to the All-OAC Second Team. Megan was named to the OCSA Second Team and Hannah was named to the OCSA All-Ohio Third Team.

Men’s Indoor Track & Field: Daven Gibson ’27 was named All-Region and qualified for the high jump at the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Daven was also named an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Male Athlete of the Week in field events. Tristan Makowski ’24 earned All-OAC honors, was named All-Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, and broke the Muskingum record in shot-put three times this season. Colton Whyte ’25 earned All-Ohio honors in the 400-meter.

Four members of the Men’s Track & Field team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Chance Carpenter ’24, Lane Smith ’26, Wade Speeth ’24 and Colton Whyte ’25.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field: The 4X200 relay team of Averi Wallace ’26, Liberty Bunting ’26, Shannon Cooper ’27, and Anna Lippiatt ’26 earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors. Averi also earned All-Ohio honors in the 400-meter at the All-Ohio Championship.

Kilikina Schultz ’26 set a new Muskingum record in 60-meter hurdles. 

Fifteen members of the Women’s Track & Field team were named to the Academic All-OAC Honor Roll: Kylie Andres ’26, Liberty Bunting ’26, Amber Corll ’26, Abigal Derry ’26, Izabella Erlenbach ’26, Jacquelynn Grinnell ’25, Alyssa Heinrichs ’26, Emily Keylor ’26, Kyra Kiessling ’26, Anna Lippiatt ’26, Jesikah Samuel ’26, Kilikina Schultz ’26, Rosemary Stephens ’26, Averi Wallace ’26, and Hailey Wilson ’24.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field: Colton Whyte ’25 and Daven Gibson ’27 were named Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Players of the Week. Colton was the Track Player of the Week and Daven was the Field Player of the Week.
