Larry Ray ’74 Honored by Springfield City School DistrictMuskingum University alumnus Larry Ray ’74 will receive a 2021 Springfield City School District Alumni of Distinction Award, at a gala recognition event planned for April 16, 2021.
An attorney, Larry is nationally recognized as a pioneer in the dispute resolution field, which includes mediation and arbitration. As a Columbus, Ohio city prosecutor, he guided the first criminal mediation program in the United States.
He later settled in Washington, D.C., serving as the first Executive Director of the American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Initiative and then as the Director of the National Association for Community Mediation.
Larry is currently a Founding Partner of Senatus, an international firm that delivers dispute resolution services to small businesses.
For 34 years, Larry has taught mediation at the George Washington University School of Law, where he is a recipient of the Distinguished Professor of the Year Award, voted upon by students.
Larry graduated with his Muskingum Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science, and earned his law degree from Capital University School of Law. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Ohio bars.
The Alumni of Distinction program was established in 2005 by the Springfield Board of Education to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves through exemplary professional success and community service.
