Senior Financial Analyst
Muskingum University invites applications for a Senior Financial Analyst. This position will provide critical financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to the organization's financial management through detailed financial modeling, budgeting, and performance analysis. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the general ledger, posting journal entries, and supporting the Senior Accountant and the Controller with accounting items. This position may serve as the back-up for payroll and Student Accounts.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Support strategic planning through financial modeling and financial reporting
- Conduct variance analysis comparing actual financial performance to budgets and forecasts
- Support the forecasting and annual budget processes
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support key business decisions
General Ledger and Accounting Support:
- Post banking related entries and maintain the cash sheet
- Maintain and analyze the general ledger
- Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist in financial statement preparation and review
- Reconcile complex financial accounts
- Support external financial audit processes
Strategic Financial Support:
- Assist in financial modeling for strategic initiatives and grants
- Provide financial insights to support business decision-making
- Collaborate with department heads to understand financial implications of business strategies

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Economics; Master's degree in relevant field preferred (MBA, Finance, or Economics)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 products, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
