Orbit Media Broadcast Engineer and Program Director
Muskingum University invites applications for the Orbit Media Broadcast Engineer and Program Director. The Director serves as onsite engineer, ensuring fully functional and operating facilities and equipment. In programmatic aspects, the Director will represent Orbit Media in cross-campus engagement with students, faculty, and staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
- Understand and oversee compliance with FCC regulations
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student staff supporting Orbit Media.
- Responsible for the installation and maintenance of new or upgraded studio production equipment, audio systems, specialized imaging and computer-based hardware, and teleconferencing equipment.
- Manage Orbit Media and adjacent program equipment by proactively ensuring that all equipment is operational and prepared for use and lending.
Programmatic
- In collaboration with students, faculty, and staff:
- Create a brand and mission for Orbit Media that includes all its outlets.
- Contribute to and support the Orbit Media platform and submission portal to best meet student needs and interests.
- Helps maximize student engagement in curricular and extracurricular experiences (e.g., associated with internships, athletics, and student activities).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Broadcast engineer certification preferred.
- Experience with FCC regulations and compliance requirements are preferred.
- Efficiently manages tasks, resources, and time to optimize productivity and meet deadlines.
- Excellent technology skills, including demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, office management programs, databases, internet, and social media sites.
- Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in all work, minimizing errors and oversights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work closely with all constituencies of the University, in addition to the public.
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Experience leading the work of others is preferred.
