Graduate Assistant - Title IX
Muskingum University invites applications for a Graduate Assistant for Title IX. Under the supervision of the Title IX Coordinator, this role is essential in supporting the University's prevention strategies related to gender-based and sexual misconduct within the University community and is an identified point of first contact in the reporting process.
This position is expected to begin on August 1, 2025 for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years. Graduate Assistant benefits include a monthly stipend, plus full tuition waiver for completion of a graduate degree offered by Muskingum University. Based on the candidate's needs, both room and board may be available.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the development and implementation of campus-wide educational efforts regarding gender-based and sexual misconduct, including Title IX. Ensure students and faculty/staff complete required training.
- Participate in mandatory training opportunities to carry out Title IX functions.
- Review and update the University's Title IX website.
- Serve as a point of first contact for students or others who want to report gender-based and sexual misconduct. This will include assessing the individual's concerns for potential policy violations, understanding the reporting party's need for supportive measures, and providing the individual with information about University policies and procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed.
- This position may be exposed to reports alleging other forms of discrimination and may be asked to assist with associated resolution proceedings.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Undergraduate degree.
- Acceptance or ability to be accepted into a Muskingum University Graduate Program.
- Utmost discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and present educational programs to a wide array of stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, federal and state laws and regulations, and institutional policies.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills, which may be developed on the job.
- Understanding, or the ability to understand, the impact of trauma on individuals who have experienced sexual and gender-based harassment and other forms of interpersonal violence.
- Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information and draw conclusions.
- While it is expected that candidates will be advocates for sexual health and well-being, candidates will be screened for real or potential bias and conflicts of interest.
