Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics

Muskingum University invites applications for a full-time, renewable faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2025.  The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, foster student learning through innovative teaching methods, and provide mentorship to support students' academic and professional growth.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

  • Develop and deliver engaging course materials that encourage critical thinking and prepare students for success and professional advancement in finance and economics fields.
  • Undergraduate courses such as Money and Banking, Corporate Finance, Managerial Finance, Investments, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, and Microeconomics.

Advising

  • Guide students in course selection, degree planning, and career exploration and growth, while fostering their intellectual, professional, and personal development.

Service

  • Actively participate in departmental initiatives, curriculum development, student recruitment, and university committees.
  • Build relationships with alumni, industry professionals, and community stakeholders to create partnerships and internship opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A doctoral degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred. Master’s-prepared candidates with significant industry and/or teaching experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching; experience in teaching adult learners and using hybrid and online learning formats is preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering collaboration and a supportive learning environment. 
  • A willingness to participate in service and scholarly activities aligned with the university’s mission and goals.
