Assistant Director of Student Engagement

Muskingum University invites applications for an Assistant Director of Student Engagement. The Assistant Director serves as the primary supervisor, mentor, and professional contact for Muskingum University’s social Fraternity and Sorority organizations: including supporting, developing, and managing recognized social fraternities and sororities and their governing councils.  The Assistant Director will also assist in the development and delivery of student engagement programming as an integral member of the Student Engagement staff.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide overall supervision and management of Fraternity and Sorority social organizations, including recruitment, club leadership, and compliance with national standards.
  • Serve as the primary professional contact with students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding Fraternity and Sorority social club issues.
  • Advise Greek Executive Board and Greek President’s meetings.
  • Support Greek advisors, including providing education regarding Muskingum policies and procedures as they relate to Greek Life
  • Educate the university community about the value and importance of Greek Life for students and the institution.
  • With Greek Council and Greek Presidents, develop and implement a comprehensive schedule of programs and activities to engage and educate Greek members.
  • Collaborate with chapters to develop specific and measurable goals for academic excellence, recruitment, and leadership involvement.
  • Maintain communication with national headquarters for nationally affiliated Greek organizations.
  • Manage data collection and dissemination for rosters, grades, procedures, and manuals, including updating university systems.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Residence Life to manage housing for Fraternity and Sorority social clubs.
  • Manage the Greek Life budget.
  • Support student engagement programs through leadership and/or team involvement.
  • Serve in the Back Up Duty rotation, including having visibility on campus during on-call periods.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field preferred.  Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two to four years of Student Affairs administrative experience.
  • Experience managing Fraternity and Sorority social organizations, including knowledge of best practices and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students and motivate them to strive for growth.
  • Ability to interact collegially with students, colleagues, and other constituencies.
  • Passion for supporting undergraduate education in a liberal arts institution.
  • Commitment to educating and supporting diverse populations, and to striving for inclusive excellence in all aspects of program delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to reside in campus housing.
