Muskingum University Crowns Homecoming King and Queen During 2021 Magenta Homecoming WeekendMuskingum University hosted its 99th Homecoming Oct. 15-17, 2021. On Oct. 16, Caleb McManaway and Sydni Trudo were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
Caleb McManaway is a health and fitness major with a minor in nutrition from Columbus, Ohio. He is Greek Council President, the member of Kappa Sigma, and a Resident Assistant. Sydni Trudo is a neuroscience major with minors in pre-law and political science from St. Clairsville, Ohio. Sydni is the Student Senate President, a member of Theta Phi Alpha, a Chess Center Supervisor, a Kappa Sig Sweetheart Representative, a member of BSU, Outdoor Initiative Club, Neuroscience Club, Psych Club, and Women in Progressive Politics Club.
They were two of 10 Muskingum University juniors that made up the homecoming court. The other members of the homecoming court included:
- Anna Hrinko – a health administration and public health major with a minor in business management from Westerville, Ohio.
- Matthew Lowery – a sports administration and athletic communications major from New Concord, Ohio.
- Emily James – a criminal justice and child and family studies major with a minor in pre-law from Nashport, Ohio.
- Hudson Moore – a business management and English major with a minor in economics from Zanesville, Ohio.
- Jenna Jordan – a biology major with a chemistry minor from Hinton, West Virginia.
- Ryan Pavlik – a chemistry major from North Canton, Ohio.
- Lillian Marriott – an athletic training major with a minor in health and fitness from London, Ohio.
- Maxwell Pezzot – a business management major from Beaver Creek, Ohio.
- Kylie Pace-Schilling – a psychology and criminal justice major from Dover, Ohio.
- Nathan Robey – a business management major with a minor in marketing from Fredericksburg, Virginia.
- Angela Toth – a biology and public heath studies major from North Canton, Ohio
- Ian Terrill – a health and fitness major from Martins Ferry, Ohio.
- Sara Woods – a biology major with a focus in pre-med with a chemistry minor from Moundsville, West Virginia.
- William Vaughan – a marketing major from Mantua, Ohio.
- Kaylee Anstaett – a health administration and public health major with a minor in psychology from Kettering, Ohio. Kaylee was one of the three finalists and is captain of the tennis team, Vice President of MPB and SAAC, a member of FAD, a First Semester Seminar Mentor, and a tour guide.
- Ethan Ford – a sociology and organizational communication major from Senecaville, Ohio. Ethan was one of the three finalists and is a John and Annie Glenn Fellow, a member of ODK, and a student assistant to the sociology department.
- Alyssa Merriman – a psychology major with minors in biology and public health from Stubenville, Ohio. Alyssa was one of the three finalists is a women’s lacrosse player, a member of Theta Phi Alpha, Tri Beta and ODK.
- Gavyn Freeland – a sport management and athletic communications major from Belpre. Ohio. Gavyn was one of the three finalists a member of the football leadership council, a member of Kappa Sigma, a director of intramurals, a SAAC member, a BSU member, and a member of the Outdoor Initiative Club and Animal Connections Club. (Gavyn was unable to be at the crowning due to being part of the football team and getting ready to take on Baldwin Wallace.)
In 2019, the University held a virtual homecoming because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the crowning of the 2020 King and Queen was held Spring semester.
Muskingum University celebrated its 2021 Magenta Homecoming in person with a variety of activities throughout the weekend that were outdoors or socially distanced indoors allowing alumni and students to participate in this annual celebration. Highlights included an alumni awards dinner and collage concert; University update from President Susan Hasseler; viewings of the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex; softball, soccer and football games; and several mixers and social activities for alumni and students.
