Progression to Sophomore Level Nursing
Progression from the freshman to sophomore year will occur when students complete the courses marked with an asterisk (*) with a grade of "C" or better, and have an overall documented 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
During the spring semester of the freshman year, first-year Nursing students will apply to continue in the Nursing and Pre-Nursing Program for the second, third, and fourth years. Admission/progression applications are available directly from the Department of Nursing office (BSC 221). Pre-Nursing students will apply for admission to the Nursing Program at the sophomore level. Admission and progression is assured in the Nursing Program if the criteria established in the progression requirements are met. (Please see the About Nursing page for additional details). The decision to enter the sophomore level of nursing will be based on transcripted completed work at the end of the spring semester. All freshman nursing and pre-nursing students will receive a letter at the end of the spring semester regarding their progression/admission status to the sophomore level of nursing.
*2nd, 3rd, 4th year curriculum for students progressing as nursing majors.
