- Chess Center Mission

The purpose of the Chess Center is to provide students with a safe and inclusive environment that introduces them to, helps them maintain, or assists in advancing a balanced lifestyle focused on physical wellness, social wellness, and mental wellness; while also providing students and organizations with a place to study, interact, program, and host events/meetings for the campus community. This is ensured by providing quality facilities, programs, and services throughout the academic year.

To foster an environment of inclusivity where any and all persons feel welcomed and supported to pursue their own desired paths of wellness; while providing opportunities for new experiences to engage different individuals in healthy dialogues and interactions that create an experiential and educational experience. To be a catalyst on campus for introducing the campus community to and working to maintain and advance the notion of developing and maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
- Chess Description

The Chess Center has three major components. The top-level is primarily a meeting/studying space for students and student organizations. The middle level is a fitness floor. The bottom level is primarily programming space with a late-night dining option. Below you will find more detailed descriptions of these areas.

Saturday Noon – 1:00 am
Sunday 2:00 – 11:00 pm*Fitness floor is open during the above hours. All users must wear a mask at all times.
- Chess Upper Floor

In the Upper Level, we have 4 rooms that are reservable for studying and for student organizations. They are Chess 300, 302, 304, and 318. The Upper Level is also home to a Student Study Center, pictured below. Students can utilize this space to access tutors for specific classes.
- Fitness Level

The Chess Fitness level has weight equipment both free weights and selectorized. It also has cardio-based equipment and a functional fitness area. In the back half of the floor, there is the Aerobics Room where students can gain a more private setting to do core and calisthenic-based workouts. The Aerobics Room is also where our Wellness Activity Classes are held.
- Wellness Activity Classes

30 Minute Abs - Wednesdays at 5:45 PM in the Aerobics Room.
Yoga with NCAARD - Before September 20th class is located at the Village Greens next to Village Hall. After September 20th classes will be held at the College Drive Church. Classes are on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.
- Chess Lower Level

The is home to MPB programming on Friday and Saturday nights. During the week a variety of other clubs and organizations will utilize this space. It is one of the largest indoor programming spaces on campus with lots of built-in technology to meet the programming needs of our student body. On the back half of this floor is the Winn Cafe. The Winn serves as a late-night dining option for the students. Below you can find the hours for The Winn.
