Dr. Kimberly “Kim” Lawler joined Muskingum University in fall 2019 as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) in the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program. She transitioned into the Program Director of the MOT program in 2023. Dr. Lawler has been an occupational therapist for 30+ years, practicing in east-central Ohio for 10 years before transitioning into occupational therapy (OT) education. Dr. Lawler was a professor in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Zane State College, serving as the AFWC for 10 years and Program Director from June 2017. Dr. Lawler earned the Doctor of Education degree at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in April 2021. She is passionate about occupational therapy and the opportunities that innovative, learner-centered education present for promoting retention and academic success of intergenerational students. Her research includes this area and occupation-based intervention. She served as vice-president of the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association for four terms and was a member of the Ohio OTPTAT Board for nine years.
