Manu Mukerji

Manu Mukerji, ’07, came to Muskingum from New Delhi, India to study computer science and business. Both his uncle and cousin are Muskies, so he was familiar with the University. When he was awarded an academic scholarship, it sealed the deal for him.

Mukerji is currently the Senior Director of Data, ML, AI at 8x8, a business providing secure and reliable cloud-based unified communications and virtual contact center solutions. The company offers chat, phone calls, call center solutions and video conferencing. Mukerji is working to build a new analytics platform and solutions that employ Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to give customers actionable insights and to help them save time and money.

Although his educational background and work are both in computer science and business, Mukerji admits that he has been surprised through the years at “how useful those Liberal Arts Essentials [Gen Ed requirements] have been.”

As an undergraduate, Mukerji volunteered at the New Concord Fire Department as an EMT, something he says he never anticipated and would not have done had he attended a larger school. Another thing he didn’t anticipate? Meeting his wife at Muskingum!

Mukerji’s advice for college seniors is to pursue an internship and network, via face-to-face interactions and tools like LinkedIn. He also advises computer science majors to take on projects that show initiative.
