Jonathan “Duke” Williams graduated in 2012 with a major in digital media design. Although he commuted from nearby Byesville, Ohio during his tenure as a student, he stayed active on campus and says he never felt “separated from the activities or lives of my resident student friends.”
Williams says that, as a high school senior, he wasn’t sure what type of career path he wanted to pursue, but he thought the digital media design program “looked like a great way to try a lot of different things quickly. I had always had an interest in media arts and DMD offered a gateway to that at a more serious level than what I could find at other schools.”
Following his graduation in December 2012, Williams began a 13-month fellowship with Ohio Government Telecommunications, which operates the Ohio Channel. He says, “The 13 months I spent with OGT where some of the most educational months of life, because it was ‘the real world.’”
In May 2016, Williams joined WCMH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbus, Ohio. He works as the Senior Commercial Producer, producing all client advertising projects.
In 2016, Williams received a National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Award (Ohio Valley Chapter) for “A Journey Through Alzheimer’s,” a documentary production for which he served as editor.
