Jill Crone

Jill Crone, a middle childhood education major with concentrations in math and science, will graduate this coming May.

Jill was recently awarded a scholarship from the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM). She applied for the scholarship with encouragement from Ky Davis, a math education professor at Muskingum. She was one of six winners across the state of Ohio.

Jill came to Muskingum from Shreve, Ohio and chose the campus because of its size and location. She adds, “I could never turn down the college that gave me the best financial package. I always said I would go wherever gave me the best deal, and that was Muskingum and I have never regretted it since!”

Jill stays busy at her on campus jobs, which she loves. She says, “At one point last semester I was working 5 different jobs on campus. These included library student worker, tour guide for admissions, Student Success Center tutor, tutor for an after school program, and student assistant in the math department.”

Jill is also the president Muskingum’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, a national education honorary and the vice president of the math honorary on campus. She is a member of Phi Kappa Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa and the Council for Exceptional Children. She is also a founding member and president of a new club called Math Academy, which targets math topics relevant to K-12 education.

About her involvement on campus, Jill says, “I have had the opportunity to do more things professionally than I ever would have expected. I have gone to professional education conferences that were great experiences.”
