Dean Gorsuch, a 2005 graduate, chose Muskingum in part because three mentors of his were alumni of the University. The triple-major (Religion & Philosophy, History and Political Science) now writes and edits high school textbooks for McGraw-Hill Education.

Gorsuch says, “I do a lot of research and a lot of writing and my professors certainly helped me become better at both of those tasks.” He jokes, “Also I have to write quickly, and waiting until the last minute to write my papers was a great learning experience for getting a job done under tight deadlines. (I'm sure my professors will be thrilled at that last answer.)”

As an introvert, Gorsuch was surprised that he formed so many lifelong friendships during his time as a student.

His advice for college graduates encourages persistence: “Looking for a job is can be rough. Don't get discouraged if you get rejected a time or eight.”

Gorsuch is married to fellow Muskingum Alum, Rachael Gorsuch, and the couple has two children.
