About Public Administration
Mission
The mission of the Public Administration major at Muskingum University is to educate students to apply practical problem-solving skills to complex, multi-layered intractable problems in an interdisciplinary tradition by teaching the foundations, complexities, and relevance of public administration. These skills allow students to analyze and explain decision-making at the local, state, and national levels, solve complex problems, and offer both theoretical and practical solutions to pressing local, regional, national problems while preparing students to further their education or to begin a rewarding career.
Program Learning Goals
- Public Administration majors will develop a broad range of critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills that apply to public service and private sector careers.
- Public Administration majors will gain hands-on experience to apply course materials and broaden student skills.
- Public Administration majors will demonstrate the knowledge, management skills, and analytical skills for positions with public service organizations, public sector employers, and nonprofit organizations.
- Public Administration majors will gain an understanding of public policy, policymaking process, and analysis of public policy.
